Do I need to be an experienced sauna-goer?

No. I guide the whole process and adapt the experience to you — it works equally well for a first-time visitor and a lifelong sauna lover.

How long does the sauna journey last?

Accepted Answer

Usually 2–4 hours. We take several rounds in the sauna, cool off in between in a pond, in snow or on the grass, and let the body rest.

How large can the group be?

Usually 2–8 people, but you can also come alone or with a larger group, up to 40 people. A smaller group is more intimate; with a larger group we split people into several rounds.

What should I bring?

It depends on the sauna — in most places tea, drinking water and towels for drying are provided. If you wish, bring a sauna hat, an extra towel, slippers, a bathrobe and clean comfortable clothes for after the sauna. I will send more detailed information once we have agreed on the sauna location.

Where are the saunas located?

My main saunas are the Vana-Kaasiku smoke sauna (Kuigatsi village, Valgamaa), the Mooska smoke sauna farm (Haanja, Võrumaa) and the Ärni smoke sauna (Viitka village, Võrumaa). I also work with partners in Harjumaa, Tartumaa, Pärnumaa, Viljandimaa and Lääne-Virumaa. On request, I can come to your own home sauna.

How is a smoke sauna different from a regular sauna?

A smoke sauna has no chimney, and heating the large pile of stones takes about half a day (6–8 hours), during which the room fills with smoke. This is what gives the smoke sauna its black walls. By the time we go in, the fire is out and the smoke has been cleared. A smoke sauna stays hot for 4–6 hours and cannot be reheated. The löyly is mostly soft and the temperature is between 60–75 °C.

Do people go in naked?

Yes, we usually go in the sauna together as we were created — that is, naked. For larger mixed groups, we agree on the arrangements personally.

Are there health conditions for which I should not come?

Accepted Answer

The sauna welcomes people who are healthy and sober. The sauna room is sacred — no intoxicants and no harsh words. For specific health conditions, write to me and we will discuss directly.

Question 9

How much does a sauna journey cost?

Accepted Answer

A guided sauna at one of my chosen saunas starts from 400 €, and the final price depends on the sauna, group size and other factors. On request you can also invite me to your own home sauna and pay only for the sauna woman's service (from 250 €). Ask for a personal offer.
